The Gentle Art of Blessing

If I could read only one book this year, The Gentle Art of Blessing: Living One's Spirituality in Everyday Life would be it. With beauty and simplicity, my friend Pierre Pradervand has written from the heart, sharing with us his personal story of how the act of blessing others changed his life and showing us how we might use the same act to profoundly change our own. This book has permanent placement on my nightstand and more often than not provides the final words I ponder at night before falling asleep.

Blessing, The Art and the Practice

In his book, Blessing, The Art and the Practice, author David Spangler shows us how we can use this spiritual energy to make connections we've never thought about before. My personal copy of this book is dog-eared and worn from constant use, for it is one I refer to almost daily. For those who wishing to follow the Blessing Way, I cannot recommend this book enough.

Secrets of the Lost Modes of Prayer

Trained as a geologist and computer systems designer, teacher and writer Gregg Braden reveals the inner workings of powerful forces tucked deep within ancient memory – and how we may turn to this infinite wisdom within to create profound changes in ourselves and those around us. I love everything Gregg Braden writes, but Secrets of the Lost Modes of Prayer: The Hidden Power of Beauty, Blessings, Wisdom and Hurt has a special place in my heart and is one I refer to often.

Everything is a Blessing
The entire thrust of David Vennells' beautiful book, Everything is a Blessing: Timeless Wisdom For a Happy Life is that we can choose to view all the serious challenges in life as blessings and in so doing, turn them into opportunities for growth. This is not a quick-fix self-help book, but rather a book written openly and honestly from the viewpoint of personal experience. It is filled with practical exercises and meditations to help you as you travel along the Blessing Way.

The Soul of Money

Deeply philosophical, The Soul of Money: Transforming Your Relationship With Money and Life by activist Lynne Twist is like no other book about money you are ever likely to read. Recommended to me by Pierre Pradervand, I found the book to be one I could not put down. Following along with the author as she shares her experiences with people all over the world as part of her decades of work to end world hunger, save the rainforests, empower women and more, this is not just a book for those wishing to learn to better manage or accumulate money. It is, instead, one which speaks to the reader where he or she lives, no matter where that might be, and no matter what his or her current financial status and/or desire might be. It is, in short, a book for everyone. And it is truly as much fun to read as any self-respecting amazing adventure book should be. I know this is a book I will read again and refer to often. I highly recommend it.

Count Your Blessings

In his book, Count Your Blessings: The Healing Power of Gratitude and Love, professional speaker, writer and business coach Dr. John DeMartini, uses affirmations, meditations and exercises along with real-life examples to show you ways to develop your own inner resources and live in the present moment with all the abundance of blessings it contains. A true source of inspiration, you'll find yourself referring to it time and again.
